Large hollow anklets from the Halayib area along the Egyptian/Sudanese border. These anklets have been available on the market in large numbers for the last 15 years. They vary considerably in their design and iconography.
Slight variations in size, bend and color, combined with the uniqueness of decoration gives each piece a significance of its own. Pieces, such as these, brought in recent years by soldiers from disputed, isolated border area, are particularly appealing in the simplicity of their design and na´ve, often representational quality of decorative elements. Many are signed by their maker.
