Ethnic Jewelry Photo Album (7 of 16)

Large pendant (tashsbat) worn by women in the Oasis of Siwa Amun in the Egyptian Western Desert. Siwa represents the western most settlement of Berber tribesmen and its costumes, jewelry and customs are reflective of its Berber traditions.

The plastic beads, open bells and low-grade silver alloy indicate probable late 1950s/early 1960s production by Amin of Alexandria or one of the Berber smiths of North Africa.
