About This Tour
Gems of Jordan is an eight-day cultural tour designed to present Jordan's most significant destinations in a single, well-paced itinerary. Over seven nights the tour covers nine stops: Jerash, Ajloun, the eastern Desert Castles, the Dead Sea, Madaba, the Kings' Highway, Shobak, Petra and Wadi Rum. The sequence avoids backtracking by moving in a broad arc — north to east, then south — allowing travellers to experience the full range of Jordanian landscapes from forested highland to desert plateau.
The itinerary's depth sets it apart: the Desert Castles loop reveals the Umayyad leisure architecture of the eastern badia, rarely included on shorter programmes; Shobak Castle, the Crusader predecessor to Kerak, sits on a rocky outcrop above the plateau leading to Petra; and the final two nights split between Petra and Wadi Rum give adequate time in both UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Madaba's 6th-century mosaic map of the Holy Land anchors a cultural stop midway along the Kings' Highway.
Departures run year-round from Amman with spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) offering the most comfortable sightseeing conditions. The tour is priced from USD 540 per person and includes private transport, an English-speaking guide, hotel accommodation and entrance fees. It pairs naturally with a Aqaba Red Sea extension or a Holy Land crossing via the Allenby Bridge.
